GARY IN – Local 10 year old Tyler Desjardins is unknowingly causing much embarrassment and unrealistic expectations for his 37 year old father, Howard, to live up to. What was once just a son encouraging his father to be a successful accountant, it has taken away all the fun of accounting for the elder Howard.
“I just want to go out there and have some fun balancing the books and helping people file their taxes properly” said Howard. “But my son is always insisting that we practice all the time and that rather than go for beers after work with the other workers, he makes me stay behind and balance budgets with him.”
Tyler is known to frequent his father’s place of work, constantly cheering Howard’s name loudly while Howard is working with customers. Last week, Howard was embarrassed when Tyler yelled at an IRS agent during a routine audit, getting both of them ejected from the building.
Despite the constant urging by others to calm down and just let Howard have some fun as he approaches middle age, Tyler insists that his behavior is for the best for Howard.
“I just want him to be the best accountant he can be. I’ve already let my life pass me by. I could have paid more attention in math classes through elementary school, but I’ll never have a chance to get there now. I just want to see my father put in all the effort he can so that he can be a top accountant, something I’ll never get to do.”
Tyler’s mother and Howard’s wife, Donna, isn’t worried about this lasting much longer. “Tyler is 10” said Donna. “Give him another year or two. Once the girls in his class start developing, he won’t waste anymore of his on this.”
